Registration of trademarks throughthe African Regional IntellectualProperty Organization (ARIPO) is expanding. Currently you can protect yourtrademark in Africa through ARIPO for 13 countries which are Botswana, Cape Verde, Kingdom of Eswatini,The Gambia, Kingdom of Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Sao Tome andPrincipe, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

The good thing is that the registration of atrademark through ARIPO has the same status as the registration of therespective country. There is no need to apply for registration in ARIPO member stateswhere registration has already been done.
